A day in the life of a lunatic......
12:00am: I lay in a pool of sweat because someone insists that a cold front will be blowing in and any minute now a cool breeze will come in through the windows, no need to turn on the a/c, really. Trust me.
12:05am: Screaming, sounds of feet running down stairs, windows closing and the beautiful hum of the magical electronic contraption that blows blissfully chilled air on my now drying body.
12:30am-5:59am: Dreaming, sleeping, snoring, drooling, snuggling with warm kitty. Sitting up "no bad kitty don't scratch that" more sleeping and drooling.
6:00am-6:50am: Alarm clock desperately tries to get ignored. Warm water trickling over my skin coaxes me to wake up in the shower. Dressed, wet hair and out the door. Late, of course.
7:05am: Stupid fuckers in traffic. I'm not going to block the intersection you stupid fuck, stop honking at me. I need right there, just let me in the parking lot.
7:06am: Grunting and clocking in. mmm Dr. Pepper. Semblance of working.
8:00am: Not awake or drunk enough to work on the nurse schedule. Gossip about ex-doctor's recent wedding scandal.
10:00am: Manager: No you can't have my computer, go away, Go home early or something, you had overtime last week.
10:15am-12:45pm: Snoozing on the couch at home. Eating disgusting Lean Cuisine.
1:00pm: Back at work. Oh, Kathy, the brain tumor ladden, pneumonia coughing beagle died while I was at lunch. Thank you to all the higher beings for making that happen, the owner wouldn't put her out of her misery.
1:30pm: Still not awake or drunk enough to work on nurse schedule. Grumbling, shuffle papers. Kathryn can you...will you.....phone call..... what do I...... help fix it, it's on fire.......my computer won't work.......she won't pay.......ARRRGGGHH.
4:30 Holy fuck, there it is. A completed nurse schedule.
5:55pm: Five minutes before we close. ".....Animal Hospital, this is Jill, how can I help you? Oh... yes bring her in. We have an emergency coming in now, cat vocalizing and rolling around on the floor. Possible seizure, Owner coming now. Which doctor can take it?" Eye rolling. Grumbling.
6:15pm: "Ma'am, your cat is in heat." Laugh out fucking loud! Emergency my ass. Owner:" Oh, do you think she is pregnant? She and her brother have been screwing like crazy for a week now." Stupid fucking people.
6:20pm: Out the door, finally.
6:45pm:Xena meets me at the door, mommy and daddy in tow. She is eating well on her own, no vomiting. Everything is much better. She is nice and hydrated, no need for fluids. Skin turgor at acceptable levels, almost got bitten checking that. "Good" temperment.
7:30pm: Home, collapse on couch. Phone rings. Chris: Working late, milestone due tomorrow. Hang up. Exhaustion.
8:50pm: Blogging, considering cup of hot tea, warm bed and channel surfing.
8:55pm: Goodnight.
