Once upon a time....
there was a princess and a prince.
They met in the most unlikely of ways.
A way only probable in a fairytale.
Unfortunately, they lived very far from one another.
He lived in the kingdom of Bostonia.
And, she in the kingdom of Austinia.
While the kingdoms sounded similar,
They were not.
Both the prince and the princess
tried to find ways to be together.
But, neither seemed to be able
to leave the responsibilities of their kingdoms behind.
They communicated as best as they could.
Neither could see a solution to this quandary.
The prince decided the distance caused too much pain for him.
And so, he left the princess behind and sought
other princesses closer to his lands.
But, he could not let her go from his life completely.
So, continued, but less frequent communications were re-established.
What was left between them was only a pale shadow of what they were.
It left the princess wrought with pain and sadness.
No magical sleep was enough to staunch her wounds of heartache.
A day came when the princess could no longer take the pain
of living a half life with her faraway prince.
And she could no longer think of him being with other princesses.
She bid him all her love and turned to walk away from him forever.
Maybe it was a magical potion or a spell cast by some fairy godmother,
But the prince could not let the princess walk away from him.
And so, they vowed that they would make the most of their feelings
for the other.
Despite the distance, they would love only the other and no other
prince or princess.
And so, journeys were planned by each to visit the other's kingdom,
so that maybe one day in the future, one of them would move to the other's kingdom.
And do they live happily ever after?
Yes, if you believe in hope and love, they do.
But, if you know a good magical potion or kindly fairy godmother,
send them along to the prince and princess.
For, they will need as much magic and fairytales as they can get.
Nothing is ever easy in love or life.
But, never believe for one moment, that
despite the pain and risk,
Love is not worth it.
Believe in happily ever afters...
Sometimes they do come true.
